Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Butter Cake

This recipe is great for those days when you just can’t seem to find the time to make a dessert, but really want one!  Or maybe you need something for Saturday brunch with the girls, last-minute pot lucks, whatever the occasion, this is easy and fun to make and oh so good!  The sour cream in this cake makes it very moist and the brown sugar topping reminds me of a butter crumb coffee cake.  Yummy 🙂




Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Butter Cake

1 golden butter cake mix

2/3 cup sour cream

3 eggs, beaten (as package states)

oil and water (as package states)

1 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp. cinnamon or more

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


Make cake mix as package states. Add the sour cream and chocolate chips and mix well.

Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 12 pan.

Mix together the cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle 1/2 of mixture over top of cake mix and using a knife swirl some of the topping into the mix. Top with the rest.
Bake as package states. Serve warm or cold.
