Happy Saturday everyone! I love the weekends and one of my favorite things about the weekends is being able to slow down and relax. I can get up and take my time and make some of my favorite breakfast recipes. French toast has always been a favorite of mine. This recipe is similar to the one my Mom made when I was growing up. She always used a little flour in her batter to make the toast fluffier. Over the years I have added to and taken away ingredients. I change it up from time to time depending on what we want and what I have on hand in the kitchen, this morning it was Raspberries.
French Toast with Raspberries
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1/2 cup half and half
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp. of flour
4 slices of thick bread
Raspberries for topping
Powder sugar, for topping
Directions:
- Measure flour into a large mixing bowl. Slowly stir in the milk. Add in the eggs, cinnamon, vanilla extract and sugars and stir until smooth.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
- Soak bread slices in mixture until saturated. Cook bread on each side until golden brown. Serve hot. Top with Powder Sugar and Raspberries or favorite fruit.
Arli! You’re killing me! Your food pictures make me want to go and eat something, really that I shouldn’t. Blessings, though.(I’m supposed to add “lol.”)
